Inhibitors and Promotors

Various urinary substances exist that inhibit crystal formation. Various substances that occur both naturally in the urine as well as synthetic compounds have a significant inhibitory effect on crystal formation and growth, especially of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate stones. These substances include magnesium, pyrophosphate, diphosphonate citrate, phosphocitrate, muco-proteins, glucosaminoglycans and various peptides.
